JotSpot Introduces Free Online Developer Program, Simplifies Wiki Development

JotSpot’s Extensible Platform Available to Broad Developer Community

PALO ALTO, Calif., Sept 12, 2005– JotSpot, the first application wiki company, today announced the formation of the JotSpot Developer Connection, the free online destination for accessing the latest tools and resources for developing on the JotSpot wiki platform. Using the power of wiki, JotSpot makes Web development simple and allows developers to focus on creating higher value applications in a fast and productive environment.

When developers sign up for free membership in the JotSpot Developer Connection, they can immediately take advantage of JotSpot’s open APIs, making the JotSpot platform completely extensible and letting developers customize their JotSpot wiki in small ways, such as look and feel, or significant ways, such as writing a plug-in or developing a full-blown application. In addition to the open APIs, community members will benefit from discussion forums, documentation, sample code and tutorials for developers looking to build applications for the JotSpot platform. The JotSpot Developer Connection is immediately available at developer.jot.com.

“JotSpot is a platform that developers and tinkerers can really take advantage of with the open API’s”, said Scott McMullan, Director, Developer Relations, JotSpot. “With the launch of the JotSpot Developer Connection, we’re providing a vehicle for innovation, creativity and sophisticated application development that is both powerful and widely accessible. Never before have such a broad group of developers had the tools and resources to truly develop a customized and sophisticated wiki so easily.”

The new online community forum gives partners, small businesses and individual developers a collaborative environment in which they can create and share applications with the JotSpot customer base. As active members of the community, developers can collaborate with each other and share ideas and best practices about different ways to customize their JotSpot wiki or how to turn their wiki applications into new revenue streams by becoming an Application Service Provider.

“It is the developer group that is really going to take advantage of JotSpot’s extensibility and show the Web community what can be built from a wiki platform,” said CEO Joe Kraus.

REVENUE SOURCES FOR DEVELOPERS

Using JotSpot as a web application development platform, consultants are using JotSpot to better and more profitably service their clients and generate new revenue streams.

“Because JotSpot’s fast and nimble technology offers so many features by default, we can take on more advanced projects and turn them around for our clients quicker than ever before,” said Kathleen Romano Co-Founder of Knowesys. “The open APIs and the community resources available through the JotSpot Developer Connection, combined with JotSpot’s wide base functionality, have opened up an entirely new stream of revenue for us.”
